Clos de Vougeot is a grand cru appellation in France, covering 51.1 ha in Vougeot. The rules allow red wine, based on Pinot Noir. Regional bedrock: unconsolidated sediments. It lies 4 km north of Nuits-Saint-Georges and 16 km south-west of Dijon.
About 50 ha enclosed by a wall built by the Cistercian monks of Cîteaux from the 12th century. Today shared by around 80 owners, so quality depends on the producer and on where the parcel lies, from the upper slope down to the road. The château is the seat of the Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin.
